Privacy Policy

A practical account of the data Tealo collects for local restaurant signals, owner verification, payments, moderation, and location-aware feed behavior.

Last updated April 27, 2026

1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how Tealo collects, uses, shares, and protects information when people use the app to read signals, post restaurant updates, react, report content, claim restaurants, or use owner tools.

Tealo is currently available in the United States. Access may be limited or redirected when we determine that a visitor is outside an area where Tealo is available.

2. Account information

When you sign in, Tealo may collect and store information such as your name, email address, profile image, account status, and sign-in activity.

This information is used to authenticate you, show your public posting identity, manage account settings, secure sessions, support moderation, and connect approved owner tools to the correct account.

3. Signals and interaction data

When you post a signal, Tealo collects the signal text, restaurant name or restaurant details you provide, optional restaurant address, generated labels or categories, timing information, visibility radius, related restaurant profile, and posting account.

Tealo also collects reactions, reports, saved moderation state, owner responses, and related counts so the feed can show what is worth ordering, skipping, or reviewing nearby.

4. Photos and uploaded media

If you upload a signal photo or account image, Tealo stores the image and related information needed to display, manage, and moderate it.

Do not upload images that include private personal information, images you do not have rights to use, or content that violates the Terms.

5. Location data

Tealo may use approximate location information, such as country, region, city, or general area, to determine service availability and show relevant nearby signals.

If you allow device location access, Tealo may receive more precise location information to set your feed radius, support nearby matching, and perform posting checks. Your browser or device may remember that preference until you change it.

Location associated with a signal is used for local feed behavior and safety checks. It is not used as the public map location for an unresolved restaurant.

6. Restaurant and place-resolution data

Tealo may standardize restaurant names and addresses, create preliminary restaurant profiles from signals, and combine likely duplicates to reduce repeated profiles.

For owner claims, Tealo collects submitted business name and address before payment. After application fee payment, Tealo may use trusted business information services to confirm the restaurant's public name, address, map listing, operating status, and location.

7. Owner claim data

Owner claim submissions may include owner role, phone number, evidence statement, submitted business name, submitted business address, payment status, review status, reviewer information, review timing, and business verification results.

Claim data is used to verify whether a person can manage a restaurant profile, support admin review, create owner subscriptions, prevent duplicate claims, and protect businesses from fraudulent ownership claims.

8. Payments and billing

Tealo uses a third-party payment processor for application fees and owner subscriptions. Tealo may store information about the payment, related account, related business, transaction status, subscription status, billing period, and cancellation status as needed.

Tealo does not intend to store full payment card numbers. Payment credentials are handled by the payment processor according to its own privacy and security practices.

9. Automated processing

Tealo may use automated tools to help identify restaurant names, categories, signal tone, tags, and whether a restaurant profile needs review.

Tealo may store those automated results to support feed behavior, moderation, product quality, and service reliability.

10. Cookies and device storage

Tealo uses authentication cookies and session records to keep users signed in and to protect write actions like posting signals or submitting owner claims.

Tealo may use device or browser storage for preferences such as location settings. You can clear stored preferences or change permissions through your browser or device settings.

11. How information is used

Tealo uses collected information to operate feeds, authenticate accounts, publish and expire posts, process photos, show nearby restaurants, handle reactions and reports, moderate abuse, verify owner claims, process payments, administer subscriptions, and improve reliability.

Tealo also uses information for security, fraud prevention, regional availability enforcement, legal compliance, service maintenance, analytics, customer support, and enforcing the Terms.

12. How information is shared

Public or semi-public app surfaces may show signal text, author display name or image, restaurant name, restaurant address after verification, owner responses, reaction counts, report counts, and place profile information.

Information may be shared with service providers that support account access, hosting, data storage, file storage, email delivery, payment processing, maps, business verification, analytics, logging, security, and administration.

Information may also be disclosed if required by law, to protect rights and safety, to investigate abuse or fraud, during a business transfer, or with your direction.

13. Retention

Signals are designed to be time-sensitive and may expire from normal feed visibility, but related records, media, reports, automated labels, review records, and moderation records may be retained as needed for safety, integrity, legal, analytics, or operational purposes.

If you delete your account, Tealo removes profile details and sign-in access, revokes active sessions, deletes reactions and saves tied to the account, removes active owner ads, and detaches your profile from public signals where the system can do so.

Some records may be retained in anonymized or operational form, including claim, payment, subscription, report, moderation, security, tax, fraud-prevention, dispute, and legal-compliance records.

14. Your choices

You can choose not to post, not to upload photos, not to provide precise browser location, or not to submit an owner claim. Some app features may require those inputs to work.

You can update account profile information where the app allows it, delete your account from the account page, clear stored browser preferences, revoke browser location permission, or request account/privacy help through the support channel made available by Tealo.

15. Account deletion and privacy requests

The account page includes a self-serve deletion control for signed-in users. Deletion is intended to remove personal profile information and future access while preserving records that Tealo needs to operate, protect, audit, or comply with legal obligations.

If you need help with an account, privacy request, owner claim, payment record, or a deletion issue, contact Tealo through the support or owner-contact channel made available in the app or by the operator of the service.

16. Security

Tealo uses administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No internet service can guarantee perfect security.

If you believe your account, claim, or restaurant profile has been misused, contact Tealo support promptly.

17. Children

Tealo is not intended for children under 13. Do not use Tealo if you are under 13, and do not submit personal information about children through signals, photos, owner claims, or reports.

18. Changes and contact

Tealo may update this Privacy Policy as the product, service providers, legal requirements, or data practices change. The updated date will reflect the latest version.

Privacy questions or requests can be sent through the support or owner-contact channel made available in the app or by the operator of the service.
